[It's bright and early in the morning when Vanellope can be seen in the playground outside the school. First period is Writing and there's homework and she forgot, so she's trying to finish hers before the school bell rings. Clearly this means it's okay to be scribbling it down in the journal - she doesn't have any thing else with her, and she can always tear the page out later on!]



[... Yeah. Anyway, feel free to run into her in the school yard or even respond via voice/written! Just remember, she's gotta make it to first period, so you might not even get replies til lunch or something. ]

Yeah but I ain't programmed to get any older, Sarge! [she crosses her arms.] Thought it was unfair, too, but now I'm not even sure I'd wanna get old!

Anyway we're supposed to write about something we learned in Luceti! So that's what I did.

[Voice]

When you've been around longer, then. [Because that's bound to at least expand her knowledge a bit, right? ...Right?]

And I'm not sure you actually learned anything. [Sorry, Vanellope, but no. That's not where babies come from. They come from The Sims.] Tell you what, why don't I actually teach you something useful? That way you've got something for the next assignment.

[Something which does not involve tarnishing her reputation. :|]

[Woah, is Sarge offering to teach her something? Knowing her, that can only be dangerous and really really cool. Vanellope grins.]

Ooh. Useful? What kinda useful?

[Voice]

[Good, maybe this will keep her love life out of the public eye.]

Save your life useful. If the Malnosso ever decide to send you kids out to fight, you'll need to know a few things to hold your own. There won't always be a kart to keep you in your element.

[Okay, so this smile here is a little twisted. But it's pretty much guaranteed that she has something dangerous and awesomely fun planned.] Some target practice should do wonders for you.

Target practice? You're really gonna teach me how to shoot stuff?! [GASPS because woah that sounds really really awesome!

Except.] That's cool! But I don't wanna fight anyone, Sarge.

[Voice]

[She's tempted to answer that few people really want to fight the necessary battles, but she's sure that Vanellope could argue that fighting game characters do. The Street Fighter folks are a mess. So she just leaves that alone.]

Just in case, short stack. If you don't ever need to, then it'll just be plain old target practice. No harm in a little laser tag, right?

[Voice]

I guess so! [Vanellope grins brightly.] Ooh, this is gonna be so exciting! When can we start? Can we start right now?! [Never mind that she's got school.]

[Voice]

We can start whenever you're done with school for the day. Trust me, the laser tag isn't going anywhere.

[Unless, of course, the Malnosso vaporize the Battle Dome. Always a possibility, but she doubts it.]

Besides, that'll give me time to fine-tune it. All the bells and whistles.

[Voice]

[sugarglitch]

Ooh, but I can be done right now!! I can meet you back in the apartment! And I can get us there really fast, too! [Vanellope no don't play hooky!]

[Voice]

[gonna_shoot_it]

[Stern sergeant voice goes here.] Stay put, kid. You skip out of class, I'm not setting up anything.

[Voice]

[Eep. So, maybe Sarge is the only one who can startle her into immediate obedience like that.]

Oh, fine. [Pouting!] But I'm comin' to find ya right after class, okay? [Ugh it's gonna be such a long day!]

[Voice]

[gonna_shoot_it]

[Her tone softens again. Always good to be listened to the first time around.]

Roger. I'll have everything ready for you. Trust me, you won't be missing anything; the set up is gonna be the boring part.

[Voice]

If you say so. School's kinda boring, too! [And that is such a lie; she's really enjoying hanging out with plenty of kids. It wasn't something she got to do, not til recently.]

[Voice]

[Yeah, she wouldn't know either way. Not in the programming. But still.] It seems like it would be, but it's still your duty here, soldier. See it through to the end.
