[It's bright and early in the morning when Vanellope can be seen in the playground outside the school. First period is Writing and there's homework and she forgot, so she's trying to finish hers before the school bell rings. Clearly this means it's okay to be scribbling it down in the journal - she doesn't have any thing else with her, and she can always tear the page out later on!]

[... Yeah. Anyway, feel free to run into her in the school yard or even respond via voice/written! Just remember, she's gotta make it to first period, so you might not even get replies til lunch or something. ]

But I never really understood flirting, either, so maybe I'm missing something here.

Flirting... That's the mushy stuff they say to each other right? [Vanellope snickers.] That's not gross. It just sounds kinda stupid.

Sometimes it's really weird, too. Like, people will say things that come across as really cheesy or insincere.

I think it's a lot easier to just talk to girls like you would with anyone else.

Right! That's probably the best thing to do. It isn't weird if you just talk to them like friends and stuff. Just fun!

It's just weird going outta the way to come up with things like... pickup lines? I think that's what they're called... Some of the ones I've read about were really weird.

What's a pickup line?

They're like... weird things guys say to girls to get them to go on dates with them. One of the really strange ones was...

[Give him a second, and... oh! He'll clear his throat.]

"Can I borrow that quarter? My mom told me to call home when I fell in love."

[... ... ...]

... But quarters are for games.

They are? Well, that makes that line even weirder! I don't think you can call anybody with a video game...

Uh, no. Games are for playin', duh.

[She huffs a sigh.] This makes less an' less sense.

That's what I figured. I mean, I guess it's possible that you could use quarters to call somebody with something like a pay phone, but I dunno. We use munny where I'm from, so it's hard to compare.
